Her Scent of Mystery - 10 mL
$54.00

Be the first to reserve Her Scent of Mystery, a contemporary reconstruction of the recovered perfume created for the 1960 Smell-O-Vision film Scent of Mystery. Originally crafted to embody the elusive fictional character Sally Kennedy (played by Elizabeth Taylor) in the film, this fragrance has been meticulously reconstructed to imagine what the scent was like before sixty years of degradation and oxidation.

The revival is grounded in chemical analysis, historical and archival research, and first-hand accounts, conducted by Jas Brooks and Tammy Burnstock, and brought to life through the expertise of perfumer Marissa Zappas. Together, this collaboration restores a vanished fragrance to the present, not as a copy, but as a living evocation of cinematic history.

The perfume peels back the layers of age, adding back lost citrus top notes of bergamot, softening the structure, and balancing its white florals, powdery talc finish, aldehydic lift, and trace of spice and warmth.

The 10 mL bottle itself is kept deliberately simple, allowing the design of its presentation to carry the drama. Each comes housed in a custom box inspired by Luke Scheppers’ case design for the exhibition: five walls that unfurl as the lid is lifted. Inside, a set of perfume blotters (previewed) echoes the crackled pattern of the fragrance’s original intended commercial packaging from 1960. The box is designed to hold both the bottle and a blotter upright, enabling diffusion of the scent into a room as well as display.

This limited edition of 500 bottles will ship in November.

Her Scent of Mystery & Original Scent of Mystery (with Glass Flacon)
$1,400.00

This singular piece unites past and present in one vessel. Commissioned for Her Scent of Mystery (2025), the flacon has been handcrafted by Australian glass artist Mark Eliott as an homage to cinematic perfume history. Its form draws on an illustration of the original fragrance’s bottle from the film’s premiere booklet while carrying a sculptural elegance, bridging the era of Smell-O-Vision with today’s revival.

This flacon houses two fragrances:

  • Her Scent of Mystery (2025), perfumer Marissa Zappas’ interpretation that restores the vitality and radiance of the lost scent, peeling back six decades of oxidation to suggest how the perfume would have originally unfolded.

  • A preserved sample of the oxidized original Scent of Mystery (1960) by Raoul Pantaleoni, safeguarded and generously shared by Susan Todd, daughter of the films producer Michael Todd Jr. This rare artifact forms the very heart of the exhibition and is the last known surviving trace of the perfume as it appeared in Smell-O-Vision’s debut.

This is a single edition per run of the exhibition, available for acquisition exclusively through Snivure.

Please note that this bottle is a smaller size than the exhibition’s main hero bottle and does not come with the unfurling case.

This limited edition will ship in late October / early November (after the exhibition ends).

Nosferatu Scented Card
$15.00

Experience F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu (1922) as it has never been experienced before: with scent. Conceived and scent directed by Jas Brooks, this special edition features a grand foil-printed card bearing ten custom scents that form a complete olfactory track for the film. Each numbered circle unlocks a moment in the story, guiding you through Ellen’s lilacs and Hutter’s leather, the stench of Orlock’s cursed earth, and even the stale breath of plague-bearing rats.

The vision for this work was to amplify the film’s sinister progression, deepening the tension between Ellen, aligned with light and nature, and Orlock, embodiment of darkness and decay. Smells emerge not only in moments of horror, but also in moments of connection: when Ellen and Orlock sense each other across distance, the audience too is pulled into their eerie bond.

Premiered in 2023, these cards have since accompanied sold-out screenings in Chicago, Sydney, and New Zealand. One attendee described it as “absolutely incredible… at given times we were alerted by a number on the screen to scratch our sniff cards, that ranged from heavenly fresh blossoms to the stagnant and stale stench of the Black Death.”
